Regular Season Round 5: Apollon Ptol. - Olympiakos 73-66

There was a small upset in Ptolemaida where 9th ranked Olympiakos (1-4) was defeated by eleventh ranked Apollon (2-3) 73-66. The best player for the winner was American forward Kaili McLaren (188-88, college: Connecticut) who had double-double 18 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Aglaia Karadima (183-82) helped with 20 points and 7 rebounds. American center Kirsten Thompson (198-87, college: Arizona St.) produced double-double 14 points and 12 rebounds and guard Aristea Maglara (168-83) added 21 points for the guests. Olympiakos (1-4) added third loss to their record. Thanks to that win Apollon moved-up to seventh place. Olympiakos keeps the ninth place with four games lost. They share it with Proteas and PAOK. Apollon are looking forward to the next round to face league's leader Athinaikos in Athens and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Olympiakos' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Panathinaikos.
