Regular Season Round 5: Dinamo Tbilisi - Sokhumi 70-91

Date: November 27, 2010
Let's mention also a derby match between two teams Sokhumi (#5) and Dinamo Tbilisi (#9). Dinamo Tbilisi was crushed at home by 21 points 70-91 and even the fact of playing at their own court did not help. American forward Richard Damus (198-83, college: Troy) stepped up with double-double 19 points and 19 rebounds for the winners and guard Irakli Sordia (191-85) helped with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Irakli Alkhanaidze (202-92) responded with 5 points and 11 rebounds and guard Guga Pataraia (180-89) with 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Dinamo Tbilisi (1-4) added fourth loss to their record. That victory allowed Sokhumi (3-2) to climb to fourth place. They share it with Energy Rustavi and Batumi. Dinamo Tbilisi (1-4) on the other side went down to tenth position. Sokhumi will face next round Batumi (#5) on the road. Dinamo Tbilisi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Samedicino.
