Regular Season Round 27: Panteras - Potros 83-80

A very interesting game took place in Aguascalientes. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 11th ranked Potros (17-19) to thirteenth ranked Panteras (13-20) 83-80 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Potros. Panteras made 28-of-35 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while Potros only scored twelve points from the stripe. Panteras forced 22 Potros turnovers. It was a great evening for Panamanian power forward Antonio Garcia (203-76, college: Ky Wesleyan) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists. Puerto Rican guard Ricardo Melendez (180-83) helped adding 21 points. The best for the losing side was American-Guyanese forward Gordon James (198-79, college: Bridgeport) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Sammy Monroe (198-85, college: Newberry, agency: Prossin Sports Management) scored 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Panteras maintains thirteenth place with 13-20 record. Loser Potros keep the eleventh position with 19 games lost. Panteras will meet at home higher ranked Soles (#10) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Potros will play against Jaguares in Nayarit and hope to secure a win.
