Regular Season Round 6: Olympiakos - Panathinaikos 51-60

We should definitely mention a derby match between two teams from Athens: Panathinaikos (#4) and Olympiakos (#9). Olympiakos was defeated at home 51-60 and even the fact of playing at their own court did not help. The best player for the winners was Romanian forward Gabriela Marginean (185-87, college: Drexel) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Sonia Dafkou (188-71) chipped in 18 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Kirsten Thompson (198-87, college: Arizona St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and center Asimina Koutsounouri (190) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Olympiakos (1-5) added fourth loss to their record. Panathinaikos (5-1) jumped to the second spot. They share the position with Esperides. Olympiakos dropped to the tenth position with 1-5 record. Panathinaikos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Athinaikos.
