Regular Season Round 7: Apollon Ptol. - Proteas 82-68

Rather predictable result in Ptolemaida where eighth ranked Apollon (3-4) defeated 11th ranked Proteas (1-6) 82-68. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Kaili McLaren (188-88, college: Connecticut) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 22 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of her ten free throws !!!). Nigerian-American power forward Nkem Nkele (185-86, college: Cal-Riverside) accounted for 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Dimitra Barberidou (180-83) came up with 17 points and 7 rebounds and guard Peppi Valeta (177-77) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Proteas in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory allowed Apollon (3-4) to climb to the seventh place. They share the it with FEA Neas. Proteas lost their fifth straight game in a row. is currently in tenth position with a 1-6 record. Apollon's will play against higher ranked DAS Ano Liosa (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Proteas will play against Panathinaikos (#5) in Athens to get more than just one victory in their record.
