Leader Pioneros delivered the twentieth seventh victory on Thursday night. This time they crushed 13th ranked Panteras (13-20) 132-72 in Cancun. Pioneros well out of reach of Panteras shooting 71.6 percent from the field. They outrebounded Panteras 48-19 including a 41-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Pioneros shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Panteras' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Pioneros made 7 blocks. American guard Jeremiah Dominguez (168-85, college: Portland St.) stepped up and scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and Jamaican center Kevin Young (206-84, college: Missouri) chipped in 25 points and 6 rebounds. Pioneros' coach Alberto Espasandin felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Puerto Rican guard Ricardo Melendez (180-83) responded with 18 points and forward Jorge Casillas (196-90) scored 12 points. Five Pioneros and four Panteras players scored in double figures.
