Regular Season Round 8: Rustavi - Batumi 74-68

Date: December 10, 2010
Rather expected game when 8th ranked Batumi (2-6) lost to sixth ranked Energy Invest (5-2) in Rustavi 68-74 on Friday. Energy Invest was tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Energy Invest shot 25 for 35 from the free-throw line, while Batumi only scored six points from the stripe. The winners were led by guard Levan Tsekvava (190-89) who scored that evening 22 points and 7 rebounds and Cameroonian forward Talba Toudjani (201-80) who supported him with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Four Energy Invest players scored in double figures. Even 19 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) by forward Nodar Tenieshvili (198-92) did not help to save the game for Batumi. Guard Ivane Maisuradze (194-85) added 14 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Energy Invest has a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion did not change their sixth position in the standings. Batumi lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place. They have the same record like GSAU Tbilisi. Energy Invest will meet league's second-placed MIA in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Batumi will play against the league's leader Army Sport Klub (#1) in Tbilisi and hope to secure a win.
