Regular Season Round 14: Novy Jicin - NH Ostrava 91-61

Rather expected game when 5th ranked NH Ostrava (8-5) was crushed on the road by third ranked Novy Jicin (10-3) 91-61. The game without a history. Novy Jicin lead from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Novy Jicin dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to NH Ostrava's 34. Canadian-Jamaican forward Corey Muirhead (198-83, college: W.Carolina) notched 20 points to lead the effort and Slovakian center Ondrej Soska (208-78) who supported him with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Even a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Dwight Burke (203-86, college: Marquette) did not help to save the game for NH Ostrava. Canadian forward Andrew Spagrud (203-85) added 14 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Novy Jicin has a solid three-game winning streak. Despite the victory they stay at third position having just one point less than leader BK Prostejov. NH Ostrava is currently in fifth place with a 8-5 record as they suffered their fifth loss. Novy Jicin will play against BK Decin (#4) on the road in the next round. NH Ostrava will play against BC Kolin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
