Regular Season Round 50: Golden St.W. - Minnesota T. 108-99
Date: December 14, 2010
Jonny Flynn and Martell Webster both made their season debut in Tuesday's 108-99 loss to the Golden State Warriors. Webster showed why the Wolves were willing to part with a first-round pick this summer to acquire him from the Portland Trailblazers, scoring 17 points on 6-8 shooting and displaying the athleticism in 26 minutes played that will make him a key spark off the bench. Flynn, on the other hand, showed the inconsistent play that led fans to such a love-hate relationship with him during his rookie season. This was on full display with 7:16 left in the game, Flynn took an outlet pass from Webster, quickly dribbled up the court, took two steps inside the three-point line, fired up a contested 26-foot shot that didn't hit rim and led to an Acie Law layup on the other end. Flynn finished with just three points and four assists in 16 minutes It is only Flynn's first game back so it is too early to make judgments, but Luke Ridnour is still the best point guard on the team. Which is unfortunate for the Wolves because there aren't many other teams in the league Ridnour would start for, which isn't a slight against him as he was brought in this summer to play a backup/mentor role. The focus pregame was on the return of Flynn and Webster but it was once again Darko Milicic who continued his pleasently surprising play this season. The Warriors had no answer inside for Darko, who put up a career high 25 points--besting his 23 point game earlier in the season against the Los Angeles Lakers--on 12-of-19 shooting and adding 11 points. Kevin Love put up his league-leading 20th double double for the season with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Love did, however, snap a streak of 10 straight games grabbing 15 rebounds a game. *Courtesy of ESPN
