Regular Season Round 16: CFBB - Challans 84-82 OT
Date: December 15, 2010
Bottom-ranked CFBB managed to get the third consecutive victory on Wednesday night. This time they edged seventh-ranked Vendee Challans in Paris 84-82. And what about a third win in a row after ...thirteen consecutive loses. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 20-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 9-7. The winners were led by power forward Jean-Charles Livio (202-93) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and swingman Hugo Invernizzi (196-93) supported him with 20 points. Even a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds by power forward Mathieu Boutry (201-78) did not help to save the game for Vendee Challans. American-Italian guard Eric Schmieder (190-79, college: Drexel, agency: R.H.Consultancy) added 14 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Four Vendee Challans players scored in double figures. Vendee Challans' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. CFBB has a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain eighteenth position with 3-13 record. Loser Vendee Challans dropped to the eighth place with eight games lost. They share the position with St Etienne. CFBB will meet higher ranked Angers BC 49 (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Vendee Challans will play against Saint Chamond (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
