Regular Season Round 24: Tulsa 66ers - Ft.Wayne MA 80-92

The Fort Wayne Mad Ants (6-4) topped the Tulsa 66ers (6-5) by a 92-80 final Friday evening inside the Tulsa Convention Center. The two teams split the back-to-back set, as Tulsa took game one on Thursday night by a 100-93 overtime final. Tulsa led 43-38 at halftime Friday evening but scored just five points in the third quarter, allowing the Mad Ants to enter the fourth with a 69-48 lead. The 66ers rallied and cut the deficit to 10 points in the final quarter but came up short. “The lesson we have to learn is we need to be ready to bounce back,” 66ers head coach Nate Tibbetts said. “We can’t hang our heads because we’ve got a great team coming in here next in Iowa. I have confidence that our guys will come out strong and focused on Sunday.” Guard Jerome Dyson led the 66ers in scoring with 16 points and Latavious Williams racked up a team-high nine rebounds. Also scoring in double figures for Tulsa was Ryan Reid with 15 points, Tweety Carter with 14 points and Zabian Dowdell with 10 points. Leading Fort Wayne with double-doubles were Marvin Phillips with 15 points and 13 rebounds and Chris Hunter with 14 points and 12 boards. The team’s high scorer was Walker Russell with 16 points. Oliver Lafayette and Roderick Wilmont chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively. Tulsa returns to the court this Sunday, Dec. 19, when it hosts the Iowa Energy at 4 p.m. inside the Tulsa Convention Center.
