The game between closely ranked teams ended with 11th ranked Puntukas' (6-14) road loss to tenth ranked Silute (8-13) 73-87 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Silute. Puntukas managed to win third quarter 25-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Silute dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Puntukas' 36. Silute forced 23 Puntukas turnovers and outrebounded them 37-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Puntukas was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Erikas Kaupaitis (202-84, college: USC Upstate) scored 23 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Vytautas Nedzinskas (196-87) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists during the contest. At the losing side forward Darius Tarvydas (200-91) responded with 23 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Larry Hall (190-83, college: W.Oregon) scored 20 points. The victory allowed Silute (8-13) to climb to the ninth place. They share it with Perlas-MRU. Puntukas who is 6-14 went down to twelfth position as they suffered their fourteenth loss. Silute will have a break next round. Puntukas will play at home against Perlas-MRU (#10) in Vilnius and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
