Thirteenth-ranked Panteras (13-20) made lots of trouble for eighth ranked Lechugueros (22-14) in Aguascalientes on Saturday. The visitors from Leon managed to secure only three-point victory 81-78. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 19-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Lechugueros looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Jamaican guard Ricky Johns (193-85, college: Utah) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 6 assists and American swingman Mike Smith (201-76, college: La-Monroe) who added 24 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals during the contest. Swingman Marcos Dorado (198-75) responded with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Jorge Casillas (196-90) scored 25 points and 5 rebounds. Lechugueros moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Lobos Grises and Huracanes. Panteras lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 20 games lost. Lechugueros will meet at home league's leader Pioneros in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Panteras will play against Halcones Rojos (#4) in Veracruz and hope to secure a win.
