Regular Season Round 24: Nova Ves - Levice 84-78

Extraliga top team - Nova Ves (16-6) added another victory to their record on Wednesday. This time they beat sixth ranked Levice (10-12) 84-78. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Levice won fourth quarter 26-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 27 personal fouls committed by Levice helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a quality performance of American guard Corey Jefferson (183-85, college: Texas St.-San Marcos) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and international center Michal Batka (204-87) who added 11 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Jefferson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was Croatian guard Denis Toroman (194-82) with 21 points and 6 assists and the former international swingman Andrej Cervenka (197-84) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Five Nova Ves and four Levice players scored in double figures. Nova Ves has a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-6 record. Levice at the other side keeps the sixth place with 12 games lost. Nova Ves are looking forward to face Handlova (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Levice will play against Komarno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
