Very expected game in Dnepropetrovsk where 10th ranked DniproAzot (7-15) was defeated by sixth ranked Dnipro (12-10) 71-61. The game was mostly controlled by Dnipro. DniproAzot managed to win second period 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dnipro outrebounded DniproAzot 39-27 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Steve Burtt (185-84, college: Iona) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 6 assists. His fellow American import power forward Mario Austin (206-82, college: Mississippi St., agency: Strategic Sports) accounted for 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. American forward Delonte Holland (201-82, college: De Paul) came up with 20 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Maxim Balashov (189-80) added 13 points respectively for DniproAzot in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dnipro maintains sixth place with 12-10 record. DniproAzot at the other side keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Halychyna. Dnipro will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. DniproAzot will play at home against Azovmash (#5) in Mariupol and hopes to get back on the winning track.
