Regular Season Round 8: Shanghai S. - Beijing Ducks 94-81

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Beijing Ducks (6-2) against eighth ranked Shanghai Sharks (5-3) on Wednesday night. Visiting Beijing Ducks were defeated by eighth ranked Shanghai Sharks (5-3) in Shanghai 94-81. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Beijing Ducks. It looked good early as Beijing Ducks took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Shanghai Sharks had a 21-15 second period charge getting the lead and Beijing Ducks were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-94. Shanghai Sharks outrebounded Beijing Ducks 46-35 including 33 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American swingman Devin Green (201-82, college: Hampton) who scored that evening 25 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) supported him with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Four Shanghai Sharks players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 25 points and 18 rebounds by Jordanian forward Zaid Abbaas (203-83) did not help to save the game for Beijing Ducks. Swingman Lei Chen (195-83) added 19 points for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shanghai Sharks moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Bayi and Zhejiang G.L. Beijing Ducks at the other side keep the third position with two games lost. Shanghai Sharks will play against league's second-placed Xinjiang Flying Tige in Urumqi in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Beijing Ducks will play on the road against Shanxi Zhongyu in Taiyuan and hope to get back on the winning track.
