Regular Season Round 12: Trabzonspor - Banvit BK 62-73
Date: December 30, 2010
There was no surprise when 13th ranked Trabzonspor (3-9) was defeated at home by third ranked Banvit (10-2) 73-62 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Banvit. Trabzonspor managed to win second period 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Banvit dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Trabzonspor's 30. Banvit had a 30-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Baris Ermis (194-85) who scored 15 points and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). American-Azerbaijan forward Charles Davis (202-84, college: Alabama) chipped in 12 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Ali Karadeniz (203-80, college: Arizona) who recorded 18 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Alvin Snow (188-81, college: E.Washington) added 16 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Banvit has a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Fener.Ulker and Galatasaray. Newly promoted Trabzonspor dropped to the fourteenth place with nine games lost. Banvit will face Aliaga (#12) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Trabzonspor will play against Erdemir and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
