Regular Season Round 36: Springfield A. - Erie Bay H. 89-102

The Erie BayHawks rallied from a sluggish first quarter and took control from the second quarter on in their 102-89 victory over the Springfield Armor on Sunday at the MassMutual Center. The BayHawks dominated the second quarter, outscoring the Armor 32-17 for a 50-42 halftime lead. Springfield (4-11) scored the first 11 points of the game before Kyle Spain scored on a layup for Erie's first basket. The Armor continued to take advantage of Erie's slow start, expanding their lead to as many as 14 points. But the BayHawks (11-6) used a 10-3 run to close out the first quarter and cut the Springfield lead to 25-18. Erie grabbed its first lead of the game at 37-36 on Kyle Goldcamp's layup with 6 minutes, 6 seconds left in the second quarter. The BayHawks never trailed the rest of the game. Erie held Springfield at bay in the third and fourth quarters, never allowing the Armor to get any closer than five points, while building their lead to as many as 16. Seven players scored in double figures for Erie, led by Ivan Johnson's 19 points. Spain finished with a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Gannon graduate Goldcamp chipped in with 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting. JamesOn Curry led the Armor with a game-high 23 points, while L.D. Williams scored 21. The BayHawks are within a game of first-place Iowa in the East Conference. Erie played without Christian Eyenga, who was recalled by the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday. In his time with Erie, Eyenga averaged 12.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
