Regular Season Round 71: LA Clippers - Denver N. 106-93
Date: January 5, 2011
The Nuggets have come to the Staples Center before and been pushed around by Los Angeles big men. But Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom were in Phoenix with the Lakers on Wednesday night. It was the Clippers who dominated the paint, manhandling the Nuggets en route to a 106-93 romp. "We got outhustled tonight in the low-post, outworked," Denver forward Carmelo Anthony said. "It's hard to beat anyone when their frontcourt is going like that." Clippers rookie Blake Griffin scored 22 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and also had seven assists. DeAndre Jordan contributed 14 points and 20 rebounds, tying Gasol for the most rebounds against the Nuggets this season. Jordan also blocked six shots. The Clippers' starting center, Chris Kaman, was out because of an injury. The Nuggets, who play tonight at Sacramento, fell to 20-14. The Clippers, who started the season 1-13, improved to 11-24. "We weren't good at either end of the court," Nuggets coach George Karl said. "Most nights, we've had something going." Anthony led Denver with 31 points but did so on 26 shots (hitting 12). Anthony was aggressive, drawing cheers from the Nuggets' bench and the four courtside fans across from the bench who wore New York Knicks jerseys, two featuring Melo's name and No. 15. *Courtesy of www.denverpost.com
