Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Valmiera: Valmiera (#12) and Liepaja (#11). Valmiera (1-13) won against visiting Liepaja (3-10) 65-60. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Liepaja won third quarter 19-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Liepaja was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Pavels Veselovs (207-83, agency: Interperformances) nailed 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and Lithuanian forward Arturas Valeika (206-85, college: Midland CC) accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds. Valmiera will play against higher ranked Rudupis (#3) in Prienai in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
