Regular Season Round 10: Electrico FC - Barcelos 54-59

Proliga top team - Barcelos (9-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat sixth ranked Electrico FC (4-6) in Ponte de Sor 59-54. It looked good early as Electrico FC took an 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Barcelos had a 19-8 second period charge getting the lead and Electrico FC was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 54-59. Barcelos brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Electrico FC was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international forward Pedro Silva (198-79) had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and guard Nuno Pedroso (187-79) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Barcelos players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Aylton Medeiros (194-88) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Jorge Afonso (192-79) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Electrico FC's coach Andriy Melnychuk tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Barcelos has a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-1 record. Electrico FC at the other side dropped to the seventh place with six games lost. They share the position with Terceira Basket. Barcelos will play against league's second-placed Sangalhos on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Electrico FC will play against Maia Basket (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
