Regular Season Round 11: Marousi - Ilysiakos 80-75

Very expected game when 14th ranked Ilysiakos (1-10) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Marousi (6-5) 80-75. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It looked good early as Ilysiakos took an 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Marousi took control winning two of next three quarters and eventually winning the game that evening by 5 points. It was an exceptional evening for Puerto Rican guard David Huertas (196-87, college: Mississippi) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. The former international forward Nestor Kommatos (203-77) accounted for 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Four Marousi players scored in double figures. Guard Alexis Kiritsis (198-82) came up with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Jimmy Baxter (198-80, college: S.Florida) added 27 points respectively for Ilysiakos in the defeat. Ilysiakos' coach Kostas Flevarakis tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Marousi moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Ilysiakos at the other side stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Marousi's next round opponent will be AEK (#10) in Athens which should be theoretically an easy game. Ilysiakos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Peristeri GS.
