Regular Season Round 14: TU/Rock - TTU 83-72

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Tartu: TU/Rock (#5) and TTU/Kalev (#10). TU/Rock (9-4) won against visiting TTU/Kalev (3-10) 83-72. The game was mostly controlled by TU/Rock. TTU/Kalev managed to win second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TU/Rock brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American power forward Callistus Eziukwu (208-85, college: Grand Valley St.) notched a double-double by scoring 13 points, 18 rebounds and 6 blocks to lead the effort and center Vallo Allingu (206-78) supported him with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Four TU/Rock players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds by American-DR Congolese forward Bambale Osby (203-86, college: Maryland) did not help to save the game for TTU/Kalev. Guard Valmo Kriisa (190-74) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Defending Estonian champion moved-up to fourth place in Elite, which they share with Ventspils. TTU/Kalev lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with ten games lost. TU/Rock's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Valmiera (#12) on the road and are hoping to win another game. TTU/Kalev's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tallinn to the arena Kalev/Cramo.
