Regular Season Round 47: Springfield A. - Idaho S. 86-90

Date: January 13, 2011
The Springfield Armor’s second matchup with the Idaho Stampede did not go as well as the first. Despite an impressive 17 points and 12 rebounds from center Chas McFarland, the Armor dropped a 90-86 decision to the Stampede Thursday at the NBA Development League Showcase in South Padre Island, Texas. Former Boston Celtics star Antoine Walker did not torch the Armor the way he did last month at the MassMutual Center, when he scored 27 points. Instead, Walker struggled to score six points on 2-of-13 shooting – not good for someone looking to get another shot with an NBA club after a three-year hiatus. Scouts from all 30 teams are represented at the annual Showcase, and they saw Walker shoot 4-for-26 with only seven rebounds in two games. Among the NBA executives in attendance was Sacramento Kings assistant general manager Shareef Abdur-Rahim, who was the No. 3 overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft – the year the Celtics selected Walker at No. 6. The Big East Conference combo of Scottie Reynolds (Villanova) and Gavin Edwards (Connecticut) added 11 and 13 points, respectively, for the Armor (6-15). Jermareo Davidson led Idaho with 22 points and eight rebounds, hopefully turning enough heads to earn his fourth call-up to the NBA. The days following the Showcase usually see numerous D-League players signed to 10-day NBA contracts. The Armor are back in action Saturday, hosting the Erie BayHawks at 7 p.m. *Courtesy of www.masslive.com
