Regular Season Round 15: VEF Riga - TU/Rock 87-71

Baltic League top team - Latvian VEF Riga (11-2) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked Estonian TU/Rock (10-5) 87-71. The game was mostly controlled by VEF Riga. TU/Rock managed to win second period 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. VEF Riga forced 25 TU/Rock turnovers and outrebounded them 38-20 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for Belarusian center Artsiom Parakhouski (211-87, college: Radford) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Montenegrin guard Bojan Bakic (197-83, agency: Alti Sport) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Georgian guard Georgi Tsintsadze (192-86) answered with 15 points and American power forward Callistus Eziukwu (208-85, college: Grand Valley St.) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for TU/Rock. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for VEF Riga. They maintain first place in Elite with 11-2 record. Defending Estonian champion TU/Rock dropped to the second position with five games lost. VEF Riga will face TTU/Kalev (#11) in Tallinn in the next round and are hoping to win another game. TU/Rock will play at home against Rudupis (#3) in Prienai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
