A very interesting game took place in Challans. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 11th ranked Vendee Challans (8-10) to tenth ranked Souffelweyersheim (9-9) 81-80 on Saturday evening. It looked good early as Vendee Challans took an 20-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Souffelweyersheim took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 1 point. It was a great shooting night for Souffelweyersheim especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Naturalized Cameroonian forward Alexandre N'Kembe (193-79) notched 22 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Frederic Broliron (193-79) supported him with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Even 16 points and 4 assists by American-Italian guard Eric Schmieder (190-79, college: Drexel, agency: R.H.Consultancy) did not help to save the game for Vendee Challans. Guard Regis Boissie (180-78) added 13 points and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Vendee Challans' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Souffelweyersheim has a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Blois and Denek. Vendee Challans lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with ten games lost. Souffelweyersheim's next round opponent will be higher ranked Angers BC 49 (#3) at home and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Vendee Challans will play against Get Vosges (#16) in Golbey.
