Regular Season Round 52: Ft.Wayne MA - Bakersfield J. 110-118

Date: January 18, 2011
The Bakersfield Jam defeated the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 118-110. Derrick Byars and Trey Johnson combined for 59 points to give the Jam the advantage. The Jam controlled the first period of play outscoring the Mad Ants 42-37, Byars started the game hot and had 16 by the end of the first. The second period was more of the same as the Jam led 74-65 at the end of the half. The Mad Ants picked up the intensity in the third period and found themselves down only 3, 95-92 going into the final period. They would cut the lead to just 1 with 10 minutes left in the game but that would be as close as they would get as the Jam’s offense proved to be too hot. Fort Wayne dominated the paint with 52 points in the paint compared to Bakersfield’s 28, but the Jam connected on 14 three-pointers tonight compared to the Mad Ants’ 5 to come out victorious. Byars led all scorers with a season-high 31 points on 12-for-19 shooting, including 6-for-6 three pointers. Johnson finished with 28. Jeremy Wise contributed 13 points and dished out 8 assists for the Jam. Brandon Wallace had 8 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 blocked shots on the night. The Mad Ants were led by Walker Russell Jr. who finished with 26 points and 9 assists. Oliver Lafayette finished with 17 and Darnell Lazare with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Bakersfield continues their road trip and will next travel to Springfield to face the Armor this Friday and Saturday. *Courtesy of www.onebakersfield.com
