Regular Season Round 14: AEK Athens - Marousi 78-82
Date: January 19, 2011
Very predictable result in Athens where third ranked Marousi (9-5) beat 11th ranked AEK (4-10) 82-78. AEK was ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 25-18 charge of Marousi, which allowed them to win the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Croatian center Dalibor Bagaric (217-80) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Yannis Gagaloudis (191-78) supported him with 17 points and 7 assists. Even 23 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) by naturalized Cypriot forward Prodromos Nikolaidis (201-78) did not help to save the game for AEK. The former international power forward Dimos Dikoudis (207-77) added 14 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Marousi has a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 9-5 record having five points less than leader Olympiakos. AEK lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with ten games lost. Marousi's next round opponent will be VAP Kolossos (#6) in Rodou. AEK's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Olympiakos.
