Baltic League top team - Latvian VEF Riga (12-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Estonian TTU/Kalev (3-13) 94-60. The game was mostly controlled by VEF Riga. TTU/Kalev managed to win fourth quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. VEF Riga dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to TTU/Kalev's 40. VEF Riga forced 25 TTU/Kalev turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a very good performance for swingman Dairis Bertans (192-89) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Russian center Ivans Nelyubov (207-88) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Five VEF Riga players scored in double figures. American-DR Congolese forward Bambale Osby (203-86, college: Maryland) replied with 17 points and 9 rebounds and forward Erik Keedus (194-90) added 8 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for TTU/Kalev. TTU/Kalev's coach Ullar Kerde gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. VEF Riga has a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Elite with 12-2 record. TTU/Kalev lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 13 games lost. VEF Riga's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Valmiera (#12) on the road which should be another easy win for them. TTU/Kalev will play against Ventspils.
