Regular Season Round 14: AZS Koszalin - Anwil 78-85

Date: January 22, 2011
We should mention about the upset which took place in Koszalin, where 6th ranked AZS Koszalin (6-7) lost at home to ninth ranked Anwil (6-8) 78-85. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of AZS Koszalin. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But AZS Koszalin won third quarter 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 25 personal fouls committed by AZS Koszalin helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American power forward Paul Miller (208-82, college: Wichita St.) notched 17 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and international forward Lukasz Majewski (199-82) supported him with 15 points. Anwil's coach Emir Mutapcic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks by American forward George Reese (201-77, college: Ohio St., agency: Alti Sport) did not help to save the game for AZS Koszalin. Serbian swingman Slavisa Bogavac (200-80, agency: BeoExcell) added 18 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Four AZS Koszalin players scored in double figures. Anwil moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Polonia Azbud. AZS Koszalin at the other side keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Anwil's next round opponent will be SKK Kotwica (#11) in Kolobrzeg.
