Spartak St.Petersburg (#4) forced the game against Lokomotiv (#3) into an overtime, but lost by two points 95-97 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Spartak St.Petersburg. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 34-23. But Spartak St.Petersburg won second period 21-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Spartak St.Petersburg used huge pressure winning it 21-18 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 14-16. Lokomotiv looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Lionel Chalmers (183-80, college: Xavier) fired 22 points and 7 assists for the winners. American-FYR Macedonian forward Michael Wilkinson (204-81, college: Wisconsin, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. American-Bosnian guard Henry Domercant (192-80, college: E.Illinois) produced 35 points (!!!) and 4 steals and the former international guard Anton Ponkrashov (200-86) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Lokomotiv (7-3) moved-up to second place, which they share with Unics. Loser Spartak St.Petersburg keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Lokomotiv will meet BC Nizhny Novgorod (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Spartak St.Petersburg will play against Triumph Lyubertsy in Lubertsy and hope to secure a win.
