Bottom-ranked Lahden NMKY (0-15) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 88-55 loss to third ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (10-5) in Lapua. The game without a history. Lapuan Korikobrat led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Lapuan Korikobrat dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Lahden NMKY's 26. Lapuan Korikobrat forced 26 Lahden NMKY turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Lahden NMKY helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Derick Nelson (196-86, college: Oakland, agency: ACMT) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Benny Valentine (170-87, college: E.Washington) accounted for 27 points and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winning side. American forward Carlton Brown (198-79, college: Texas A&M) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds and guard Valtteri Makalainen (192-92) added 12 points respectively for Lahden NMKY in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lapuan Korikobrat maintains third place with 10-5 record having just two points less than leader FoKoPo. Lahden NMKY at the other side still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Lapuan Korikobrat's next round opponent will be Ura Basket (#11) in Kaarina and are hoping to win another game. Lahden NMKY will play at home against the league's leader Forssan Koripojat and hopes to get finally their first victory.
