Fifth-ranked Raanana Hertzeliya (8-7) gave a tough game to first ranked Elitzur Ramla (14-1) on Monday. Elitzur Ramla managed to secure only three-point victory 89-86. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Raanana Hertzeliya. Raanana Hertzeliya was tied after three quarters and then recorded another tie at the end of regular time. They were eventually defeated in overtime 14-17s. Elitzur Ramla outrebounded Raanana Hertzeliya 49-36 including 18 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for American center Kia Vaughn (193-87, college: Rutgers) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds. Her fellow American import center Le'Coe Willingham (183-81, college: Auburn) helped adding 17 points and 13 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American guard Briann January (173-87, college: Arizona St.) with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals and naturalized American forward Brasheeda Elohim (180-80, college: Fayetteville St.) scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Elitzur Ramla have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-1 record. Raanana Hertzeliya at the other side dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Elitzur Ramla are looking forward to face league's second-placed Electra Ramat in Hasharon in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Raanana Hertzeliya will play at home against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#10) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
