Rather expected game in Breitenguessbach where 9th ranked Giessen Pointers (5-13) were defeated by sixth ranked TSV Troester (9-9) 74-66 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 27-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Naturalized Croatian forward Ivan Pavic (201-81) scored 22 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and center Erik Land (203-90) chipped in 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was Jamaican-American forward Kimmani Barrett (198-87, college: La Salle) with 17 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Marcus Johnson (191-87, college: Dayton) scored 11 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. TSV Troester have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position in Group South with 9-9 record. Newly promoted Giessen Pointers keep the ninth place with 13 games lost. TSV Troester will face higher ranked Licher Baeren (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Giessen Pointers will play against BG Illertal/Weissenhorn (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
