Regular Season Round 30: Delikatesas - Zalgiris-Sabonio 76-71

We should mention about the upset which took place in Joniskis, where higher ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (17-11) lost to eleventh ranked Delikatesas (9-19) in a road game 71-76 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Zalgiris-Sabonio won third quarter 18-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Delikatesas won last quarter 16-13. They also forced 20 Zalgiris-Sabonio turnovers. Swingman Zilvinas Petraitis (194-88) scored 28 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Juotas Blazys (197-82) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Tauras Jogela (200-93) with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Paulius Sorokas (198-92) scored 10 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Zalgiris-Sabonio's coach Priit Vene rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Delikatesas maintains eleventh position with 9-19 record, which they share with Erelita. Loser Zalgiris-Sabonio dropped to the fifth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with LKKA-Atletas. Delikatesas will meet at home bottom-ranked Puntukas (#15) in the next round. Zalgiris-Sabonio will play against Radviliskis (#3) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
