Regular Season Round 62: Austin T. - Z*N.Mexico T. 105-103 OT

The Austin Toros defeated the New Mexico Thunderbirds 105-103 in an overtime thriller in front of a home crowd of 2,126 at Cedar Park Center. The Toros trio of Kevin Palmer, Lance Thomas, and Marcus Cousin combined for 59 of the Toros total 105 points. The Thunderbirds took a 10-0 lead in the opening minutes of the first quarter and led the Toros 36-26 at the end of the first. Late in the second, Lewis Clinch gave the Toros a seven point spark off the bench bringing the Thunderbird lead, that was as much as 14, down to just three before halftime. The Toros trailed the Thunderbirds 58-55 at the break. In the third quarter, the Toros mounted a charge that led to their first lead of the game with less than 2:30 left. The Thunderbirds out rebounded the Toros 45-25 through the first three periods. However, the Toros shot 20-25 from the free throw line, which allowed them to stay close. The Toros trailed by two with 44 seconds left in the game but were able to tie the game at 99 on a Kevin Palmer lay up. With 9 seconds to play, Dar Tucker of the Thunderbirds drove into the lane for the game winner, but was rejected by Marcus Cousin. The great defensive stop by the Toros sent the game into overtime. The Toros were led in overtime by the Palmer, Cousin and Thomas trio who combined for all scoring in overtime with six points. Dar Tucker led all scorers with 27 points. Lance Thomas recorded a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds.
