NBA
Regular Season Round 96: New York K. - Detroit P. 124-106
Date: January 30, 2011
The Knicks, with the backdrop of legendary Madison Square Garden, play a seductive brand of basketball, and if teams aren't careful, they can fall prey to the stage. Well, the Pistons handled themselves for 36 minutes but couldn't sustain it, falling 124-106 on Sunday night, their third straight loss. Amare Stoudemire's tip dunk to end the third quarter carried over to the final stanza, as the Knicks went on a 12-2 run to break open a game which had been tied at 91. Stoudemire (33 points, six rebounds) had been questionable because of a sore right knee. Danilo Gallinari had two 3-pointers during that run, on his way to 29 points, while also holding his own against Tayshaun Prince. It led to a 33-point fourth quarter, while the Pistons (17-31) mustered 15. The Pistons weren't going away quietly, though, at least early in the fourth. Ben Gordon had his strongest game since the home opener against Oklahoma City and kept the Pistons in contention with a season-high 35 points - 16 in the third quarter — and seven 3-pointers. *Courtesy of www.foxsportsdetroit.com
