Regular Season Round 17: Nevezis - Rudupis 79-71

One of the most interesting games of round 17 was a derby match between two teams from Lithuania. The game took place in Kedainiai where fifth ranked Nevezis won against visiting Rudupis (10-7) 79-71. Rudupis were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Nevezis made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Nevezis outrebounded Rudupis 38-26 including 16 on the offensive glass. Center Egidijus Dimsa (205-85) stepped up and scored 29 points (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winners and Swiss-Lithuanian guard Rolandas Alijevas (192-85) chipped in 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Nevezis' coach Rimas Girskis used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Giedrius Jankauskas (206-81) responded with 21 points and 7 rebounds and forward Justinas Sinica (203-85) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four Rudupis players scored in double figures. Nevezis (10-5) moved-up to fourth place in Elite. Rudupis lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Nevezis will meet at home bottom-ranked Valmiera (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rudupis will play against TTU/Kalev (#11) in Tallinn and hope to secure a win.
