Second Stage Round 1: Penarol - Arecibo 80-85

Capitanes de Arecibo earned the first win in Liga Americas second stage. They held off Penarol in Group E action. Larry Ayuso fired 28 points to pace the Puerto Rican team. Capitanes opened the game with eight unanswered points to surge ahead. They recorded a 22:13 lead at the first intermission. Penarol went on a 14:5 run in the second quarter to narrow the deficit. But Capitanes responded with five points in a row and established a 40:32 lead. Penarol continued to threaten the margin as they narrowed the deficit to two points in the third term. Capitanes ran away once again piling up a 65:53 lead with ten minutes remaining. Larry Ayuso and Aubry came up with crucial baskets late in regulation to win the game for Capitanes. Danilo Pinnock delivered 14 points and 6 boards for Capitanes. Daniel Santiago added 11 points in the win. Kyle Lamonte and Facundo Campazzo netted 20 points each for Penarol. Leonardo Gutierrez finished with 16 points in the loss.
