Second Stage Round 2: Flamengo - Penarol 76-90

Liga Americas defending champions Penarol stayed in the race for the tournaments Final Four appearance. They knocked down Flamengo in the second round of action in Group E. Penarol are now at 1-1 record, while Flamengo fell at 0-2. Penarol will take on Halcones Rojos, while Flamengo will face Capitanes de Arecibo on the final day of action in Veracruz. Marcos Mata ensured a quick start for Penarol. He chipped in 8 points in the first period as the Argentinean side grabbed a 19:17 lead. Penarol kept on clearing off in the second term but Marcelinho Machado unloaded 7 points of his own late in the half to drag Flamengo within 4 points 33:37. Penarol however kept pushing as they boosted the gap to 12 points in the third term. Flamengo could not recover in the reminder of the contest and had to surrender at the end. Leonardo Gutierrez knocked down 27 points to pace Penarol. Pablo Sebastian Rodriguez added 20 points in the victory. Marcelinho Machado responded with 25 points and 7 rebounds for Flamengo. Eduardo Machado delivered 16 points in defeat.
