There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Saitama Broncos (11-18) were defeated at home by seventh ranked Toyama Grouses (9-18) 95-80 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 58-42 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Toyama Grouses outrebounded Saitama Broncos 45-30 including 33 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toyama Grouses made 7 blocks. Saitama Broncos were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American swingman Brian Harper (208-85, college: Paine) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Takeshi Mito (184-85) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures.
