Regular Season Round 16: B.Gais Neptune - UCC Demons 73-62

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Cork: Neptune (#3) and UCC Demons (#2). Neptune (8-7) won against visiting UCC Demons (9-5) 73-62. They outrebounded UCC Demons 49-30 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Neptune made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Grenadian forward Michael Bonaparte (196-82, college: Coll.of the Ozarks) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. Swingman Philip Taylor (196-86, college: Genesee CC) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American power forward Marcus Van (201-85, college: Cent.Michigan) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and Kyle Hosford (-89) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for UCC Demons. Four UCC Demons players scored in double figures. Neptune maintains third position with 8-7 record having five points less than leader UL Eagles. UCC Demons at the other side keep the second place with five games lost. Neptune are looking forward to face UCD Marian (#3) in Dublin in the next round, which may be the game of the day. UCC Demons will play on the road against the league's leader UL Eagles in Limerick and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
