Regular Season Round 110: Detroit P. - Portland TB 100-105

Date: February 13, 2011
The Pistons had seen Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge before, in another incarnation. Aldridge entered Sunday on a tear, averaging nearly 30 points and 10 rebounds this month and having a legit case to make the All-Star team. The Pistons didn't have an answer for him, and his 18-foot jumper helped put them away Sunday with a 105-100 win at the Palace. Even with Aldridge (36 points, four rebounds) dominating, the Pistons had a chance to tie the game with 36 seconds left. A botched play ended up with Austin Daye taking a contested 3-pointer that came up short, sending the Pistons to their second straight loss. Pistons coach John Kuester said Aldridge was the only player to remind him of a young and agile Rasheed Wallace. Like Wallace did at times for the Pistons and Blazers, Aldridge dominated offensively. He beat the Pistons downcourt multiple times for easy layups and in the set offense, hit everything in sight. With only Wesley Matthews (26 points) having a good night, it was all the Trail Blazers needed. Yet the Pistons trailed by four entering the fourth quarter, ending the third on a 9-0 run. Tracy McGrady (16 points) and Tayshaun Prince (14 points) took the bulk of the shots through three quarters Sunday, while shooting guards Ben Gordon and Rodney Stuckey struggled. Gordon didn't hit his first field goal until a minute into the fourth quarter, but it ignited his team. *Courtesy of www.foxsportsdetroit.com
