Regular Season Round 19: Nevezis - Siauliai 69-85

One of the most interesting games of round 19 was a derby match between two teams from Lithuania. The game took place in Kedainiai where sixth ranked Siauliai won against host Nevezis (12-6) 85-69. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Nevezis. The game was mostly controlled by Siauliai. Nevezis managed to win second period 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Center Vytautas Sarakauskas (203-82) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Guard Zygimantas Janavicius (192-89, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Center Egidijus Dimsa (205-85) produced 20 points and 9 rebounds and Latvian forward Ernests Kalve (200-87) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Nevezis' coach Rimas Girskis tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Siauliai maintains sixth place in Elite with 11-8 record. Loser Nevezis keep the third position with six games lost. They share it with TU/Rock. Siauliai will meet at home higher ranked Rudupis (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nevezis will play against Perlas in Vilnius and hope to secure a win.
