Regular Season Round 79: Rio Grande VV - Austin T. 99-111

Date: February 16, 2011
James Anderson scored 23 points and the Austin Toros downed the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 111-99 on Wednesday night. The Vipers (23-11) lost a second straight game for the first time since Dec. 26-27, despite Jerel McNeal's 25 points and Jeff Adrien's 16 points and career-high 18 rebounds. The Toros (14-19) led by as many as 12 points in the second quarter, but the Vipers closed the second quarter on a 16-7 run. The Vipers took a 90-89 lead when Adrien hit a jumper with 7:10 to go in the fourth quarter, but an Anderson basket gave the lead back to the Toros, then Carldell Johnson hit a pair of free throws to make it 93-90. Adrien brought the Vipers within one with a slam, but Lance Thomas and Anderson hit jumpers to make it 97-92. *Courtesy of www.statesman.com
