BJ League top team - Hamamatsu Phoenix (28-4) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Akita Happinets (10-23) 101-80. The game was mostly controlled by Hamamatsu Phoenix. Akita Happinets was better in fourth quarter 33-28. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hamamatsu Phoenix forced 19 Akita Happinets turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Jermaine Dixon (191-87, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side center Jeff Newton (205-81, college: Indiana) responded with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds and swingman Carlos Dixon (202-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Strategic Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists. Four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Akita Happinets' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Hamamatsu Phoenix maintains first position with 28-4 record. Akita Happinets at the other side keep the seventh place with 23 games lost. Hamamatsu Phoenix will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Akita Happinets will play again at home against the league's leader Hamamatsu Phoenix (#1) in Mikawa and hope to get back on the winning track.
