Regular Season Round 15: Sangalhos - Alges 53-60

We should mention about the upset which took place in Sangalhos, where 4th placed Sangalhos (10-5) lost at home to eleventh ranked Alges (4-11) 53-60 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 17-8. But Sangalhos won second period 20-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Alges had a 33-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Silvester Spicer (198-86, college: Rogers St.) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Angolan forward Sergio Correia (197-85) chipped in 9 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Joao Carmo (183-85) who recorded 18 points and swingman Emanuel Silva (188-79) added 14 points respectively. Alges moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Maia Basket. Loser Sangalhos keep the fourth position with five games lost. Alges will face league's second-placed Galitos FC in Barreiro in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sangalhos will play on the road against Povoa.
