Gran Canaria celebrated a home win over Unics in EuroCup Last 16 round. The victory propelled the hosts to 2-3 record in Group I. Already qualified for quarterfinals Unics fell at 4-1 record on top of the standings. The teams got to a low-scoring start. They teamed up for just 26 points in the opening period with Unics claiming a 14:12 advantage. Gran Canaria adjusted their offense in the second quarter. The hosts erupted for 31 points in the period to take a 43:38 halftime advantage. Gran Canaria stayed dominant in the third quarter. Jaycee Carroll was the usual contributor as the hosts kept on piling up the lead. Gran Canaria arrived at the final break up by 11 points 62:51. Unics refused to give that easily. The visitors erased the bigger part of the difference. Terrell Lyday pulled Unics within three points but Gran Canaria held on to come out winners. Jaycee Carroll provided 16 points to lead the effort. Taurean Green added 13 points, while Javier Beiran had 11 points and 11 rebounds in the victory. Ricky Minard responded with 19 points for Unics. Maciej Lampe accounted for 11 points in the loss.
