Regular Season Round 118: Miami Heat - Washington W. 121-113
Date: February 25, 2011
Lil’ Wayne didn’t leave his courtside seat until two minutes remained in the game. Yeah, it took that long for the Heat to put away the Wizards. One game after losing to the Bulls and one game before a showdown with the Knicks, the Heat allowed the Wizards to hang around long enough to make things interesting on Friday night at AmericanAirlines Arena. The Heat defeated the Wizards 121-113 but it wasn’t easy. “We’ll take this win after all-star week,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “Sometimes you’ll see crazy scores after all-stars.” It took a season-high effort from Dwyane Wade to put away the Wizards, which entered the game 1 and 27 on the road. Wade scored 41 points on 18 of 27 shooting. Twenty of his points came in the second quarter with a few acrobatic shots that sent famous rappers and rabid fans alike to their feet with excitement. It was Wade’s team-leading fourth 40-point game of the season and his 18 fields goals set a season high for the Heat (43-16) and fell one shy of his career record. Of all his otherworldly shots on Friday, his floater in the lane two minutes into the second quarter was the highlight of the night. *Courtesy of www.miamiherald.com
