Regular Season Round 37: Ferro-ZNTU - Khimik 64-62

Twelfth-ranked Khimik (11-24) was very close to win a game against sixth ranked Ferro-ZNTU (18-17) in Zaporozhye. Ferro-ZNTU managed to secure only two-point victory 64-62. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 22-13 Khimik's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 64-62 at the end of the game. Khimik was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Vincent Hunter (208-84, college: Arkansas) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and Belarusian forward Heorhi Kandrusevich (198-78, agency: Promotex) chipped in 18 points. Four Ferro-ZNTU players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international swingman Alexander Kolchenko (198-88) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Lorenzo Williams (191-84, college: Rice, agency: Court Side) scored 15 points and 4 steals (made all of his eight free throws). Khimik's coach Zoran Martic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ferro-ZNTU maintains sixth place with 18-17 record. Khimik at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 24 games lost. Ferro-ZNTU will play against bottom-ranked BC Kyiv (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Khimik will play against DniproAzot in Dniprodzerzhynsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
